Amazon offers a service called Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) which facilitates easier order fulfillment and delivery processes for merchants. In this method, sellers send their stocks to Amazon from their warehouse, a third-party service (3PL) such as Stock and Ship, or directly from their supplier. For sellers utilizing Amazon's fulfillment services, FBA labels are indispensable.
Each FBA label must prominently display the Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit (FNSKU), which is a unique identifier assigned by Amazon to track products and connect them to the seller's account. Additionally, the product name should be clearly stated to ensure accurate fulfillment of orders. The item's condition, whether new, used, or otherwise, is also essential to inform both the fulfillment center and the customer.
Aside from the required information, Amazon also has specifications regarding the printing of the labels. Sellers have the option to print these labels themselves or have Amazon do it for a fee. For those who choose to print their own labels, it's important to use the correct label size and type to ensure compatibility with Amazon's system. Dedicated label printers are recommended for sellers who handle a large volume of shipments, as they can significantly speed up the labeling process.
Shipping to Amazon requires more than an FBA label. There should also be shipping labels attached properly to facilitate smooth transport to Amazon warehouses. This label may be purchased either from Amazon or your carrier.
For standard box shipments, typically used for smaller quantities, Amazon requires specific label dimensions and placement to ensure the package is processed correctly upon arrival at their fulfillment centers. One label per box should be attached avoiding any seams to prevent damage during opening.
On the other hand, LTL (less-than-truckload) shipments, which are ideal for larger quantities, require a different approach. Each pallet in an LTL shipment must have 4 labels with a unique identifier attached to each side. This method is more complex but can be more cost-effective and efficient for bulk shipments.
It's also important to note that Amazon has stringent requirements for both types of shipments to avoid delays or additional fees. Adherence to these guidelines is essential for a smooth transaction and to maintain good standing with Amazon's FBA program.
